We celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Michael Jackson BAD album!
This is the third year of the MJFanvention -- the event that celebrates the life and talent of the King of Pop, August 24 - 26. It's more than just a party. Attendees will learn what made Michael Jackson such a phenomenal talent. Was it just merely talent? Or did he carefully craft his performances and study his audience?
We will also talk about his creativity and his pioneering role as an African-American artist working in an industry still plagued by segregation with Joe Vogel, author of three books on Michael Jackson, including Man in the Music: The Creative Life and Work of Michael Jackson (Sterling Publishing, 2011). Vogel has been published in the Atlantic, Huffington Post and PopMatters.
Delve into the physical ailments that led him to Dr. Conrad Murray and the fatal dose of anesthesia that led to his death. Cherylin Lee, RN, Ph.D. tearfully testified at the trial of Murray. She was a friend and confident of Jackson and counseled him weeks before his death on his health issues.
Enjoy special guest performances and never-before-seen videos of the King of Pop at work from Gregg Parker, CEO and Founder of the Chicago Blues Museum. Parker is a collector of footage and memoribilia from hundreds of entertainers. A musician himself, he has traveled with the Jacksons around the world.
Then later, join the MJFanvention2012 Dance party at L26 Restaurant at the Chicago South Loop Hotel in Chicago at 7 p.m. on August 25th.
