Press Credentials

To ensure quality press coverage and representation at the Fanvention and to be eligible for press badges, media representatives must present required credentials from an approved media outlet, as outlined below.  We reserve the right to refuse media passes, without cause, during pre-registration as well as on-site media registration. Please be advised that, due to high demand, media passes are limited in number and are reserved for commercial news outlets.  Deadline for press credentials is July 1, 2011.

Who qualifies for a press badge at the Fanvention?

Editors, television and radio producers, and print/broadcast reporters, and publishers from approved media outlets will receive press privileges.

In order to qualify for a press badge, media representatives must present current press identification. This includes a business card (with individual's name and title and the name of an approved media outlet) AND one of the following:

  • The masthead from an approved media outlet with individual's name and title listed.

  • A copy of or an Internet link to a current by-lined article published in an approved media outlet within the past six months.

  • Freelance writers and photographers must present a letter of assignment from an approved publication to be granted a press badge. Freelance writers or columnists not on an assignment must provide a copy of an industry-relevant by-lined article, published within the past six months in an approved media outlet.

  • Electronic media representatives, including editors of websites, must present proof of an existing site with relevant editorial content and proof of circulation.

  • Broadcast Media Guidelines: Photographers, television and video crews must obtain media credentials per the guidelines. When covering the conference, photographers and broadcast media must check in at the media room before going on the exhibit floor or to any sessions. A media relations staff member must accompany the photographer/broadcast crew when shooting any of the conference’s activities.

Who does not qualify for a press badge at the show?

Public relations representatives; marketing, creative services, circulation and other employees of magazines, newspapers and television stations; writers and publishers of personal or corporate newsletters; and family members of legitimate media are not eligible for press badges. Book author's eligibility will be determined on case-by-case basis.

You will be notified if your request is approved, denied or needs further clarification. Approved badges will be held for on site pick-up in the Media Room located at the host hotel.

We ask that you do not bring friends or relatives with you to the show.
